IDLES release new single 'Mr Motivator'

Posted on: 20 May 2020

It’s our first glimpse into the Bristol band’s third album.

Forget Joe Wicks: Bristol natives IDLES will get your blood pumping, and spirits lifted, with surprise new single ‘Mr Motivator.’

The track has arrived complete with a montage music video, featuring fan-sourced footage, plus clips of the band, getting sweaty in lockdown.

A close pal of the band, Heavy Lungs frontman Danny Nedelko, also makes an appearance in the video. Watch:

Unleashed yesterday (Tuesday 19 May), the track is our first glimpse into IDLES’ third album, a follow up to 2018’s Joy as an Act of Resistance, which is due to drop later this year.

Another ferocious, self-actualizing anthem by the Bristol-bred band, ‘Mr Motivator’ is not only a nod to IDLES’ new album but rallying message to fans.

Speaking about the track, IDLES frontman Joe Talbot explained:

“We want to start this journey with a means to not only encapsulate the album’s sentiment but to encourage our audience to dance like no one is watching and plough through these dark times with a two-tonne machete of a song and the most beautiful community of scumbags ever assembled. Let’s go. All is love.”

The release, along with its motivational slogans, couldn't have come at a better time - it's Mental Health Awareness Week after all.
