Thekla launch new podcast: Isolation Discs

It’s a difficult time for the music industry.
In a new period of social distancing and self-isolation, live events, gigs and mass gatherings have been postponed.
However, some venues are coming up with ingenious ways to show their support for local music and its fans.
Take Thekla: today, the world-famous live music venue and former German cargo ship has launched a brand-new podcast, titled ‘Isolation Discs.’
The aim? To keep Thekla’s hardcore fans entertained during lockdown.
Each episode, a post on Thekla’s website explains, will feature a different artist chatting (remotely) to host Chris Arnold.
Every week, artists will share some of their favourite tunes that are keeping them going during the lockdown - aka, their Isolation Discs.
Episodes will be released every Wednesday.
Today (Wednesday 1 April) the venue released its first podcast episode, featuring Bristol MC Gardna.
Blending dub, grime and dancehall, Gardna has steadily risen through the ranks, receiving radio play from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and BBC1Xtra.
More recently, the MC, vocalist and lyricist supported Leeds’ Gentleman’s Dub Club on tour.
