Glastonbury Festival reveal first wave of 2020 acts, confirm final headliner

Posted on: 13 Mar 2020

The Eavis family took to social media yesterday to address Coronavirus concerns and confirm the first round of acts for Glastonbury 2020.

Uncertainty and general anxiety as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic have posed a lot of questions to the UK's festival scene, with many events considering cancellation amid growing fears of the virus spreading among the crowds.

There have been rumours that Glastonbury Festival, the UK's largest festival event with more than 200,000 people in attendance, could be cancelled this year.

But, for the time being, the world-renowned event will be going ahead as planned, as organiser Emily Eavis confirmed the first wave of acts for its 50th Anniversary edition last night.

"As things stand," reads the announcement on the festival's official website, "we are still working hard to deliver our 50th anniversary Festival in June and we are very proud of the bill that we have put together over the last year or so."

Glastonbury 2020 lineup.

Arguably the most notable new arrival to the lineup is third and final headliner Kendrick Lamar, with the revered, Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper set to perform on The Pyramid Stage for the first time.

Elsewhere, fellow US artists Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals return to Worthy Farm, Caribou appears off the back of the release of his critically-acclaimed new album, Suddenly, and Texan psych duo Khruangbin perform at the festival for the third time.

Of course, no Glastonbury lineup would be complete without a stellar cast of British acts, and there's plenty of homegrown talent on offer this year. Dizzee RascalFatboy SlimGroove ArmadaHappy MondaysLianne la HavasLondon GrammarNoel Gallagher's High Flying BirdsPrimal ScreamTom Misch & Yussef DayesThom Yorke and more are locked in.

Pop fans have got a lot to shout about, too, with globally-renowned acts like TLCKelisPet Shop Boys and Dua Lipa confirmed. There are still scores of acts to be announced. Electronic music, introducing and local lineups are still to be released, adding to what's already looking like one of the most varied Glastonbury lineups to date.

Those of you lucky to get your hands on tickets for Glastonbury 2020 will need to pay off balances in the first week of April. Any balances left unpaid will be allocated to the resale, giving the public a second chance to book their place at the UK's biggest and best-loved festival.
