Earlier this week, Bristol filmmaker of Shunk Films, Paul Holbrook, received the top prize at The Pitch film awards.

The award will provide the local filmmaker with £30,000 of funding, and a trip to Hollywood to gain feedback from industry experts.

And now, Bristol has the chance to see some of Paul’s work in a one-off screening and Q&A session.

Paul Holbrook is off to Hollywood

Taking place at Clifton’s 1532 Performing Arts Centre on Thursday 23 January, the screening and Q&A session invites the people of Bristol to watch one of Paul’s latest works, Hungry Joe.

A psychological horror short film, Hungry Joe was co-created by Paul and Sam Dawe.

The short, which depicts the story of a single mother struggling to bond with her apathetic son, is set to take on the international film festival circuit this summer. First, it'll premiere at the Manchester Film Festival in March.

But before the film leaves Bristol, film fans are invited to catch a special screening of Hungry Joe at Clifton’s 1532 Performing Arts Centre.

Kicking off the night with a series three, critically acclaimed horror shorts, the screening of Hungry Joe will be followed by a Q&A with Paul and Sam, as well as some key cast members.

Starting at 18:00, the screening and Q&A event will round up with an informal networking session in the bar area.

Tickets for the one-off event cost just £7.59 - get yours here.
