Christmas shopping can be a slog.

 

It’s easy to rely on a voucher or a soapy gift set as a stocking filler, but these gifts can become tiresome. So, this year, why not shop local?

 

In 2019, Bristol is spoilt for choice when it comes to Christmas Markets which showcase nothing less than the finest (local!) produce.  

 

In this year's collection of Christmas markets, uncover the work of local creatives, alternative gifts and lots of scrummy food to keep you going. Here’s some highlights.

Made in Bristol Gift Fair @ Colston Hall Foyer

 

Every weekend until Sunday 8 December, discover Made in Bristol Gift Fairs inside Colston Hall’s Foyer.

 

Made in Bristol Gift run events, exhibitions and pop-up shops throughout the year to celebrate and promote the region’s best artistic talent.

 

The pop-up Gift Fairs at the Foyer will see pop-up stalls filled with artisan gifts for purchase, family-friendly activities and entertainment.

 
Each Gift Fair will be open 10:00 to 17:00 on Saturdays, and 10:00 to 16:00 on Sundays.

The Vegan Christmas Festival @ Bristol SU 

 

‘Tis the season to become vegan? On Saturday 7 December, Animal charity Viva is set to host a vegan Christmas festival at Bristol SU in Clifton.

 

Discover an of plant-based products from over 40 stalls, including a hogless roast.

Prince's Trust South West Makers Market @ St Nick's Market 

 

New for this year, the Prince's Trust South West Makers Market is currently open inside St Nicholas Market. It'll be around until 21 December 2019. 

 
A brand-new pop-up shop, the Makers Market will feature the produce of some of the city’s most exciting makers and creators, boasting a range of unique Christmas gifts.

 

From handmade jewellery to dog accessories, everything on sale is the work of 21 local entrepreneurs currently enrolled on the Prince’s Trust Enterprise programme.  

 

A combination of training and mentoring services, the Enterprise programme helps young people (aged 18 – 30) translate their business ideas into a reality. Find out more here.

Bristol Etsy Team x Bristol Girl Boss winter pop-up shop @ The Galleries 

 

Until 22 December, visit the Bristol Etsy Team x Bristol Girl Boss winter pop-up shop in The Galleries.

 

Featuring the work of 80 local artists, the pop-up is a chance for Bristol shoppers to discover handmade Christmas gifts, designed and handmade by the city's creatives.

 

Added extra: visit the Etsy Made Local Bristol fair at City Hall on Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December. They’ve got stalls and workshops.

Christmas Markets @ The Tobacco Factory 

 

Happening every Sunday until 22 December, the Tobacco Factory Christmas Markets give you the chance to discover all things local. Expect live music, loads of local produce and real Christmas trees from Ali & Joe.

Weekend Christmas Markets @ Bristol Harbourside 
 

The weekly Harbourside Market just got Christmassy: every weekend throughout December, discover over 60 (yes, sixty!) market stalls on Bristol’s historic harbour.

 

Each weekend, the covered walkway (outside venues such as Watershed), will be transformed into a Makers Market – the perfect place to discover alternative gifts.

 

Not only that, but the market’s usual food vendors will be on hand to fuel your festive gift-finding.

Bristol Bazaar Christmas  Market @ The Island 
 

From Saturday 30 November, descend on The Island for the Bristol Bazaar Christmas pop-up shop.

 

Sift through a range of prints, ceramics and loads more locally-produced products every day throughout December, until Christmas Eve.

St Nick's Night Market: Saint Nicholas Edition 


Busy during the day? A late-riser? That’s where the St Nick’s Night Market comes in.

 

On Friday 6 December, descend on St Nick’s Market after-hours for a Christmassy edition of their monthly night market.

 

Sing carols, enjoy a spot of seasonal shopping and get merry with food and drink. Plus, between 17:00 and 20:00, you can visit Saint Nicholas’ grotto inside St Nick’s Church.
