Where to go ice skating in and around Bristol | Christmas 2019

Posted on: 13 Nov 2019

You’ve booked your Christmas do, and you’ve had a browse in the Christmas market, but what’s next? Ice-skating, of course!

This year, there won’t be an ice rink in Bristol’s Millennium Square. Instead, the organizers have opted for a roller disco. But fear not, festive fans – there’s still chance to glide across the ice this Christmas.

Here’s a list of ice rinks popping up for the festive season in and around Bristol.

Icescape @ The Tropicana
Until 5 January 2019

It’s the U.K.’s largest covered winter ice-rink: Icescape at The Tropicana in Weston-super-Mare is back for 2019. Covered in fairy lights, Icescape promises the ultimate ice-skating experience with rapid-freeze, real ice technology.

This year, enjoy adult-only discos at the rink or visit a quiet session: a music-free, less crowded experience. Afterwards, don’t forget to visit Santa’s Grotto, or have a hot chocolate at the Lodge Bar & Restaurant. Icescape: Where to ice-skate this Christmas

Old Down Country Park
30 November – 29 February 2020

Old Down’s ice-rink returns for 2019 at the end of this month, and it’s bigger than ever before. An open-air ice-skating experience, you’ll find this year’s rink in the walled garden of the   Estate.

Winter Wonderland @ The Mall, Cribbs Causeway
16 November – 5 January

After a busy day of Christmas shopping at Cribbs Causeway, why not take to the Winter Wonderland ice rink? It’s the second-largest outdoor ice rink in the whole country!

Now encompassing 1500 sq. metres (that's double the size of last year!), 2019's winter rink is also home to country’s largest ice track.

Bath on Ice
15 November – 5 January

If you’re willing to travel a little further this festive season, Bath on Ice is a must-visit ice-skating destination. Open every day until late, the open-air rink is situated in the beautiful surroundings of Royal Victoria Park.

After a slip and slide on the ice, visit the Bath Christmas Market, which opens at the end of November.
