Bristol Club Highlights - July 2019

Posted on: 01 Jul 2019

It'd be stupid of us not to shine a light on the best of Bristol's bustling nightlife scene, and so with the Club Highlights series we'll be providing you with a monthly list of the best club nights in the city, taking into account some of the best-known acts and venues as well as some you might never have heard of. July 2019 is all about the day parties as Bristol clubs get ready to host huge outdoor events from the likes of Principle Records, Banoffee Pies, Alfresco Disco and more throughout the month - find all the info below.

St Paul's Afterparty at Lakota.

Lock Yard x Emergency Room @ Motion, Friday 5th July

Renowned party starters Emergency Room are the latest label to host a Lock Yard event at Motion, inviting Dr Banana and resident DJ Doktor Zed to provide the soundtrack to an afternoon of top-notch UK garage. Judging by the last week or two it's looking like the weather will be on your side for this one, and there won't be many better ways to see out the working week and usher in Carnival weekend than some sun, sea (ok, river) and UKG in Motion's intimate terrace space.

St Paul's Carnival Afterparties @ Various Venues, Saturday 6th July

St Paul's Carnival is back in just three weeks' time, and with it comes another lineup of unmissable afterparties kicking off when the sun goes down on Saturday 6th July. You won't be able to make it to all of them, so we've taken the liberty of putting together a quick list of top picks to keep the party going, hosted by Lakota, The Malcolm X Centre, Trinity Centre, Black Swan, Blue Mountain and more. Check the link above to find out more and get your tickets.

Housework at the Arnolfini.

Housework w/Intergalactic Gary @ Arnolfini, Saturday 13th July

Shanti Celeste and Daisy Moon's Bristol-Berlin party series is returning to the Arnolfini this month, inviting veteran selector Intergalactic Gary to headline alongside London-based DJ Brian Not Brian. Backed up by Housework residents and Bristol regulars Gramrcy, Golesworthy and, of course, Daisy Moon herself, this one will be getting the Arnolfini moving for a full day and night from 3pm till the early hours of Sunday.

Principle Records Day Party w/Calibre, Lenzman and more @ Motion, Saturday 13th July

Tickets are very nearly sold out for Principle Records' latest summer party on Saturday 13th July, and with good reason. The label's 2018 event was one of Motion's biggest of the year, and they've gone all out to top it this time around by inviting none other than Calibre (for a two-hour headline set), Lenzman, SATL, Grey Code, Fluidity and Utile for an afternoon of unmissable liquid dnb. Final release is a bit pricey - you'll have to part with £28 for a ticket when you factor in the booking fee - but well worth the money when you take a look over the lineup.

Bitch, Pride! at Lakota.

Bitch, Pride! Official Afterparty @ Lakota, Saturday 13th July

Bristol's favourite LGBTQ party had to show up for the city's biggest-ever Pride celebrations, and Bitch, Please have done just that by putting together a massive event at Lakota for the evening of Pride Day 2019. Combining a slew of Bristol artists including Hannah Holland and Bitch, Please resident ZenZero with world-renowned house outfit Catz n Dogz and a live set from futuristic funk duo The Illustrious Blacks, Bitch, Please have outdone themselves yet again to ensure that Bristol Pride 2019 goes out with a bang.

Dial Africa w/Andy Mac @ Crofters Rights, Friday 19th July

Renowned Bristol local Andy Mac (Zam Zam, Idle Hands) is taking over Crofters Rights this July for the latest instalment of the much-loved Dial Africa party series. Bringing with him a tasty collection of Ghanaian High Life, West African Juju, South African & Nigerian Disco, Afrobeat and Soukous, Mac's wealth of knowledge and passion for music from all corners of the continent will have you dancing from start to finish.

Banoffee Pies Harbourside Day Party.

Banoffee Pies' Harbourside Day Party @ Christmas Steps, Saturday 20th July

Banoffee Pies Records' Harbourside Day Parties have become a staple of the annual Bristol Harbour Festival, bringing banging music, beers and good vibes to The Christmas Steps' airy backyard space. Come rain or shine the dance must go on, with a soundtrack provided by a selection of Bristol artists and a yet-to-be-announced Special Guest. Entry to this one is absolutely FREE but is certain to get busy, so get down early from 2pm onwards.

Alfresco Disco Block Party @ Secret Location, Saturday 20th July

Alfresco Disco have been quiet for a while but you can be sure they're coming back with a bang in July with their latest secret-location event. Billed as a Lower East Side Block Party, expect a daytime get together like no other, organised in a way only the Alfresco crew know how to. One of the most talked-about party labels in the UK, let alone in Bristol, Alfresco Disco's events are a breath of fresh air at a time when the country's nightlife is under constant threat. This month's block party is certain to be one of those you'll remember for years to come.
