The Kotzen trio showcased their musical talent brilliantly, but for me overall this gig was just not that memorable, that being said the crowd at the front absolutely loved every single song.

American guitarist, singer and songwriter Richie Kotzen has been in the music industry since the early nineties, with the  release of his 21st studio album Salting Earth this was the last UK gig of his European tour.

Richie Kotzen at Thekla Bristol

Heading for the top balcony of Thekla to get a perfect view, Kotzen arrived on stage with his bass player and drummer. The first song started off rocky due to the vocals not being loud enough, this was a real shame. The technical error was quickly fixed and the second song was more enjoyable as you could hear Kotzen's impressive, husky classic rock vocals clearly.

The set was a variety of Kotzen's hits throughout the years with tracks from his latest album, it was great to hear influences from different music genres such as soul, rock pop, classic rock and blues, making each song diverse. Kotzen himself is a born musician it was clear how much he loves what he does, his crowd interaction was playful so was his on-stage relationship with the band.

The Kotzen trio showcased their musical talent brilliantly, but for me overall this gig was just not that memorable, that being said the crowd at the front absolutely loved every single song.
