Review: Love Saves The Day 2022 @ Ashton Court

Celebrating ten years of a seminal Bristol festival.
Love Saves The Day 2022 couldn’t have come any sooner when I finally walked through the gates of the festival's new home, Ashton Court. With this being the festival's tenth anniversary, one would expect a pretty special lineup and organisers Team Love did not disappoint. Scheduled to play the Friday (the day I attended the festival) was legendary electronic duo Chase & Status, popular producer Mura Masa, Mercury Award winner Arlo Parks and indie group Easy life with radical buzz artist GROVE flying the flag for Bristol.
With a new location comes a new layout and Love Saves The Day ticked all the boxes in this department, the site was incredibly spacious and the stages and stalls were easy to find - I couldn't quite comprehend how long it must have taken to plan the event. In just under a year they managed to organise an amazing festival and invite so many exciting acts.
Speaking of the acts, all the artists I managed to catch were awesome, all keen to give the swarms of festival-goers a Jubilee bank holiday weekend to remember. This was the first time seeing some of my favourite acts such as London grime MC CASisDEAD (pictured below) and sought-after rapper Potter Payper performing live in Bristol and hopefully not the last. Both artists lived up to expectations, bringing electric energy to a soggy Ashton Court crowd.

However, there were a few set cancellations due to the atrocious weather conditions, including popular headliner Arlo Parks. Despite the weather-related hiccups and getting a bit wet, this was a situation completely out of the hands of the organisers and I am looking forward to attending once again next year - hopefully, a weekend complete with beaming sun.
The festival director Tom Paine had a few things to say about the festival as a whole:
“It was amazing to finally begin the latest chapter of Love Saves The Day at our brand new home of Ashton Court, enabling us to put on our largest line-up to date across ten high-production stages, with amazing vibes across site, from the brilliant sunshine on Thursday to the torrential downpours during the afternoon on Friday. We will return to Ashton Court next year on our regular May Bank Holiday Weekend dates - Sat 27th & Sun 28th May 2023”.
Hopefully, we'll be able to catch up again in 2023 after yet another successful festival.
