The Harbour Festival have announced this year’s line-up with stars from Bristol and beyond

Posted on: 25 Apr 2024

The Bristol Harbour Festival, one of the biggest events in Bristol’s summer calendar, have announced the first wave of their lineup, with names including Laid Blak, Gabriel Templar, and Grove.

The Harbour Festival (or Bristol Harbour Festival, to give it its full title) fast approaches, with July just a few months away. With excitement building like a surging tsunami, the festival have piled on even more – with announcements for the coming line-up.

Friday will see Global Local kick off festivities at the Amphitheatre with an ecstatic mix of world music – starting with Tropical Bass/electronic act Xaman X, female-fronted 10-piece brass band She’s Got Brass, and Bristolian Samba champions BLOCO B.

Closing the show will be The Bhangra All Stars, who will mesmerise the audience with Punjabi Bhangra – mixing electric dancing, passionate drumming, and enchanting vocals until the cows come home (note: on Friday 19 July cows always come home at 10pm).

Eco-charity Greenpeace will host Saturday – with the absolutely unmissable Grove making an appearance to pump pure energy into the atmosphere – sharing the lineup with strange but excellent local act Beatles Dub Club, presenting the Fab Four as you’ve never seen them before.

Beyond that, Saturday will see dreampopper Emily Magpie – recipient of the Audiotarky’s Future Sound of Bristol Competition fund, and recently seen performing at Rough Trade for Record Store Day – and the Old Time Sailors bringing footstomping shanty-action and covers to the harbourside.

Sunday is marked out for the Made in Bristol lineup - a multi-genre gig celebrating Bristol talent. Hélélé will perform their afrobeat jazz, leading into beloved outfit Laid Blak, whose jungle beats will be familiar to all. In a similar vein, Bass Choir’s harmonic instrumentation and bass-led rhythms will entertain all ages with D&B and UK garage from 3pm. As if that wasn’t enough, Gabriel Templar, the TikTok sensation, will also take to the stage on Sunday, followed shortly by boneshaking folk-punk-shanty-rock band Imprints to close things out.

This is just the first wave of lineup announcements, with more to come as we get closer to the festival (I would recommend keeping a close eye on 365Bristol.com for all the updates, but that’s just me). Plus, the Harbour Festival is renowned for everything from food stalls, to circus, and anything else that’s entertaining, so watch out for announcements on those too.

Bristol Harbour Festival is taking place from Friday 19 July – Sunday 21 July 2024. For more information, head to their website.
