Tickets go on sale for a Grammy-nominated jazz-funk band tomorrow

Posted on: 11 Apr 2024

This October, Bristol Beacon are playing host to much-acclaimed Australian jazz-funk outfit Haitus Kaiyote, in celebration of their album, Love Heart Cheat Code.

Haius Kaiyote are a Melbourne jazz-funk band founded in 2011, after a wild first gig at the Bohemian Masquerade Ball, and a rapid introduction to potent DJ Gilles Peterson.

Wielding a potent mix of genres from ambient, to psych rock, lounge music and jazz, they’ve carved out a powerful niche that’s led to a flurry of award nominations, including three Grammy nominations – and winning an Australian Independent Record Award for Best Independent Jazz Album, for their album Mood Valiant (2021).

Now, their first release since the aforementioned album, Love Heart Cheat Code, is a snapshot of four musicians dancing together on the edge, 11 playful, exuberant tracks that feel light and shine light —from the opening flourish of ‘Dreamboat’ to the closing chants of their interpretation of ‘White Rabbit.’

Frontwoman Nai Palm, bassist Paul Bender, keyboardist Simon Mavin and drummer Perrin Moss have clearly outdone themselves on the recent album, delivering powerful performance after powerful performance Bender’s bass chords on ‘Dimitri,’ Perrin’s polyrhythmic crescendo on ‘Make Friends,’ Simon’s galloping piano on ‘How to Meet Yourself,’ and Nai’s guitar and vocal virtuosity throughout ‘Everything’s Beautiful.’

In celebration of the album, which is set to be released June 28, the band are going on a world tour, including a date visiting the Bristol Beacon on Monday 7 October. The band’s expansive sound will be filling the main hall at Beacon, Lantern Hall – making this a world-class experience of the eclectic and experimental jazz-funk band.

Sale for the tickets go on sale tomorrow, Friday 12 April – but are already on pre-sale for those who have pre-ordered Love Heart Cheat Code. Either way, for your tickets, head to the Bristol Beacon website.
