Friday 3 May will see two events kick off Bristol Folk Festival 2024, with the grand opening taking place at Bristol Cathedral with The Breath, made up of singer/flautist Ríoghnach Connolly and guitarist Stuart McCallum. There will also be a set at Bristol Folk House from the exquisitely talented Bristol-based quintet, Hedera.

There will be a St George’s Bristol takeover on Saturday 4 May with sets from critically acclaimed headliners Ranagri who will be blending harp, guitar, bouzouki, flutes, vocals and bodhran; Chicago-born, Nashville-based bluegrass and folk artist Rachel Baiman; and Dusk, who will take audiences on a magical journey through European Folk.

Saturday night at St George’s will see a headline set from much loved BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards winners Spiers & Boden and unique Bristol artist Frankie Archer who blends synths, samples, earthy fiddle and vocals.

The day programme on Sunday 5 May will take place at St George’s Bristol with a headline set from one of the UK’s most distinctive voices and a true Bristol legend in Lady Nade as well as support slots from Stockport-born accordion virtuoso, clog dancer and composer Heather Ferrier Trio and humorous and absorbing singer-songwriter Chris Fox.

Sunday's night-time programme at St George’s will feature sets from foot-stomping South-West folk outfit Sheelanagig, distinctive 14-piece supergroup Filkin’s Ensemble, and Bristol dream folk trio Hands of the Heron – who will be playing a special intimate gig in the glass studio.
