World Record Day sees two post-punk heavy-hitters release a limited edition split LP

Posted on: 16 Feb 2024

Two titans of post-punk, Heavy Lungs & DITZ, are coming together for a limited, never-to-be-repressed soundclash album to celebrate World Record Day 2024.

Bristol post-punks Heavy Lungs (fronted by Danny Nedelko of eponymous IDLES song fame), and Brighton outfit DITZ are two big names in the post-punk world.

Beyond the fame shared by IDLES’ complimentary song, Heavy Lungs have been a consistently brilliant presence in Bristol’s post-punk community since 2017 – having recently released their debut studio album, All Gas No Brakes, to critical acclaim, the band are clearly on the up.

Heavy Lungs’ labelmates, DITZ, are another big name in experimental hardcore punk – with two popular EPs and their own debut album released so far, DITZ recently hit the road for a headline tour of France, and will also be supporting IDLES next month on their tour.

Now, the two are teaming up in celebration of World Record Day for a seriously cool package – one record combining each band’s savage BBC Live sessions, including a cover of Danny Nedelko...by Danny Nedelko.

The record comes in a radical pink-and-green splatter vinyl – and comes with an exclusive trading card. Speaking of exclusive, that’s the catch: there’s only 1000 presses of the record being released – and the band have promised it will never be re-pressed. As Nedelko himself has said: “Only 1000 LPs have been printed so act fast or live out the rest of your days drowning in regret. No pressure though xoxo”

Both bands have tours on the go, with DITZ European tour (full of sold-out dates) briefly brushing England with Oxford and Brighton dates coming up. Heavy Lungs, meanwhile, will begin touring in April for their own European shows – stopping in by Bristol for Old Market’s Outer Town festival on the 13th of April, followed up by a handful of other UK shows.

DITZ x Heavy Lungs (Live At The BBC) will be released 20th April 2024 exclusively for Record Store Day – and therefore exclusively in record stores. Keep an eye on your local to snag yours.
