Second wave of artists announced for Ritual Union 2024

Posted on: 01 Feb 2024

The multi-venue festival has today announced a handful of indie’s most exciting acts to a line-up that already includes the likes of Dream Wife and Do Nothing.

Ritual Union will take place across venues in the heart of Bristol throughout the day on Saturday 23 March 2024.

Joining the already stacked bill today are singer-songwriter Sam Akpro, US rock band Ovlov, art-pop outfit Garden Centre, the Bristol-based artist Pem, local post-folk experimenters Minor Conflict and synth-pop newcomers, MM’99. With a lineup bristling with breakout acts, exclusive sets and established live favourites, this will be a pretty day of music.

One newly released name is genre-defying Peckham singer-songwriter/producer Sam Akpro. Currently, on the BBC 6 Music A-list, thanks to the latest single, ‘Death By Entertainment’ – major success awaits this exciting artist. Also joining the line-up, in something of an exclusive, is alt-rockers Ovlov, with the cult band releasing three lauded albums in the last decade.

Ritual Union has also confirmed appearances from Garden Centre, an oddball pop band who have already sealed the approval of one Frank Ocean, London via Warsaw hypnotic highflyers MM’99 and homegrown talent Pem, known for her smoky serenades and ethereal arrangements.

If that’s not enough, keeping up the tempo into the early hours at the official afterparty is the Squid-affiliated Minor Conflict. Box of frogs mad, the group combine post-punk and post-folk using harp, bass, drums, trumpet, synths and surrealist vocals.

Previously announced artists include co-headliners Dream Wife and Liz Lawrence alongside prime slots for Do Nothing, Windowspeak, Cheekface, William Doyle and Das Koolies. Elsewhere, exciting exclusives see a special opening set from indie legend Martin Newell AKA The Cleaners From Venus and a reunion show from Brooklyn band, Cende.

Ritual Union will take place across Nelson Street venues SWX, Rough Trade, Strange Brew and – for the first time – The Island all day on Saturday 23 March 2024. Secure your tickets, HERE.
