The final two site-specific installations have now been announced with the first set to adorn one of Bristol’s most iconic landmarks and the second a bold statement of what us Bristolians already know – that coming to Bristol is always a good idea.

Magically illuminated amongst the ruins of Temple Church, ‘The Unfolding’ is set to a track from Hannah Peel’s Mercury and Emmy-nominated No. 1 Classical Chart Album, featuring Bristol’s Paraorchestra. The installation invites audiences to look up into the space above them with lights gently moving to the meditative soundscape.

‘Bristol is always a Good idea’ is inspired by the work of visual artist Dave Buonaguida, AKA Real Hackney Dave. The phrase invites visitors and residents alike to engage with the streets in a new way. This artwork was inspired by Dave’s ‘Good Idea’ print series featuring the phrase which will now be scaled up and and brought to life at a massive scale.

Other previously announced installations include ‘Pulse’ by This is Loop at Lloyds Amphitheatre, ‘Evanescent’ by Atelier Sisu at College Green, ‘Ascendance’ by Studio McGuire at St Stephen's Church, ‘Emergence’ by This is Loop at Broadmead and ‘Elysian’ by Atelier Sisu at Quakers Friars.

There will also be ‘Swing Song’ by Tired Industries and Bristol Light Festival at Queen Square, ‘Wildlight’ by BBC Studios and Bristol Film Festival at Finzels Reach and ‘The Nectary’ by Alison Smith and Dr Chris Hassall.

This year’s Bristol Light Festival runs across the city from Friday 2 until Sunday 11 February 2024. Details can be found on the festival website.
