A fabulous comedy-musical arrives at Bristol Old Vic next week

Female-led theatre company Folio Theatre Company present the world premiere of Nanny, an emotional rollercoaster comedy play with songs at The Western Studio.

 

Nanny runs at Bristol Old Vic’s The Weston Studio from Wednesday 31 January to Saturday 10 February 2024.

 

Featuring a script and story from Alana Ramsey (The Crown), Lizzie Stables (The Inbetweeners) and Jenny Rainsford (Fleabag) and sublime original music and songs from Matthew Floyd Jones (Kathy & Stella Solve a Murder); this poignant and funny new play explores friendship, faltering and staying true to yourself despite it all.

‘She said to me this morning “Everything you do fails” because I spent twenty minutes trying to work out how to fit her car seat. She just sat there just going “fail, fail, fail, fail, fail” while I was scrabbling away on YouTube looking up how you fit the Maxi Cosi 10. “Everything you do fails.” EVERYTHING? Who says that to someone? Who turns up to work to get told that?!

Lea and Amy are two below-average nannies with way above-average ambitions. Each week they take the kids they look after to a ‘Stay and Play’ class and seize a moment between the snacks, songs, snot and screaming to plot the twists and turns of their actual careers as a comedy double act.

 

Folio Theatre Company is a dynamic, fresh, female-led theatre company, based in Wiltshire. Through their programme, the group aim to engage with under-represented audiences and provide opportunities for those whose stories they explore.
