A special Festival of Stories is coming to Bristol’s Sparks

Posted on: 19 Jan 2024

Celebrating local storytellers and book lovers, this family-friendly event will take place at the unique independent department store in March.

Organised by Kooky Book Craft, the Festival of Stories will take place at Sparks on Saturday 9 March 2024.

Bookworms can expect new and second-hand books, children’s storytelling, indie authors, illustrators, local crafters and storytellers, kids entertainment, workshops and a book swap. Visitors are also encouraged to dress up as their favourite book characters and get involved in the fun!

Find out more on the event’s Facebook page.

This wonderful family event will feature an array of guest traders including Tarot Rebel (tarot readings), Myth and Lore Zine (zine, bookmarks, and art), Stacy’s Book Emporium (Usborne children’s books), Smiley Face Designs (book crafts and hand-sewn items), The Learning Pond (multi-lingual children’s books).

Recently announcing that its lease has been extended until December 2025, Sparks is a department store with a difference. Co-created by Global Goals Centre and Artspace Lifespace and housed in Broadmead’s former M&S building, the venue covers everything from fashion and food to nature and energy.

Each department is designed specifically to support the Bristol community to take easy (and often money-saving) actions on climate, equality and wellbeing. The ground floor houses a wide array of shops, installations, events and more whilst upstairs acts as a hub for local artists with affordable studios, rehearsal and performance spaces.

Sparks is located at 78 Broadmead, Bristol, BS1 3DS and is open Wednesday – Saturday, 11 AM – 6 PM, and Sundays, 11 AM to 5 PM. Find out more from the venue’s website.

The Festival of Stories will take place at Sparks on Saturday 9 March 2024, keep abreast of updates on the Facebook event page.
