Always proving a popular attraction when it runs in Bristol, this exhibition gives local nature lovers the chance to experience award-winning images alongside the museum’s permanent natural science collections. The showcase includes 100 winning photographs from 49,957 competition entries from photographers of all ages and experience levels from 95 countries.

It’s not just photographs either, the exhibition also features soundscapes, videos and expert insights alongside, as well as the many photographs that beautifully capture animal behaviours, spectacular species and the divine diversity of the natural world.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is an annual international wildlife photography competition that is developed and awarded by the Natural History Museum in London. First awarded in 1964, the winning and commended photographs are exhibited at the museum before embarking on a tour around the world – with Bristol being one of its destinations.

The 2023 Grand Title was won for a second time by Laurent Ballesta for her otherworldly photograph of a golden horseshoe crab in the protected waters surrounding the Pangatalan Island of the Philippines – see the image below.

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2023 exhibition runs at the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery from until Sunday 21 April 2024.

Tickets for this exhibition are priced at £10 for adults, £6.50 for concessions (those over 65, NHS staff, unemployed, disabled people and more) and FREE for under 16s and carers – secure your tickets HERE.
