Born in Oxford in 1941, Miriam Margolyse OBE is one of the UK’s best-loved character actors, gaining particular praise for her roles in Martin Scorsese’s The Age of Innocence – for which she won a BAFTA – and the Harry Potter film series – in which she played Professor Sprout – and numerous beloved television shows.

From declaring her love to Vanessa Redgrave to being fed cockroaches by Steve Buscemi; from turnip-based comedy in Blackadder to being farted on by Arnold Schwarzenegger; from Graham Norton’s sofa to Alan Cumming’s camper van, Miriam’s life has always been an uproarious adventure.

As one of the UK’s most recognisable onscreen faces – and now a Vogue cover star – the 82-year-old has charmed audiences for more than 60 years, earning her a very special place in our hearts. In the words of Stephen Fry: “There is no one on earth quite so wonderful as Miriam Margolyes”.

As outrageous and entertaining as ever, join Miriam in conversation for a riotous evening as full of life and surprises as the actress herself. A paperback copy of her book, Oh Miriam! Stories from an Extraordinary Life is included in the ticket price.

As well as Bristol, Miriam Margolyes’ ‘Oh Miriam! Live’ tour will see her drop by venues in Northampton, Manchester, London, Canterbury, Cambridge, Southampton, Ipswich, Birmingham, Cardiff, Isle of Man, Glasgow and Aberdeen across the summer of 2024. Find out more on her website.
