Not long left to catch an England footballing legend on his farewell tour

Posted on: 20 Dec 2023

He established himself as football royalty by scoring the winning goal for England’s only-ever World Cup in 1966 and since his retirement spent his time meeting fans up and down the country.

‘An Evening with Sir Geoff Hurst’ is at Bristol’s Redgrave Theatre on Thursday 15 February 2024.

Joined by his dear friend and agent Terry Baker, Sir Geoff Hurst will talk amusingly about his illustrious West Ham and England career in a show that has proved immensely popular in previous years. The show's second half will be a Q&A with the audience, giving football fans the chance to pose their questions to a living legend.

An international sporting icon, Sir Geoff Hurst MBE is a former international footballer who remains the only player to score a hattrick in a World Cup final when England beat West Germany in front of a home crowd at Wembley in 1966. Since the recent death of Sir Bobby Charlton, Hurst has become the last living player from the 1966 World Cup-winning team.

Throughout his England career, he scored 24 goals in 49 games and featured in the 1968 Euros and the 1970 World Cup. He also had a long-lasting career with his boyhood club West Ham United, where he scored 242 goals in 500 appearances, winning the FA Cup and the European Cup Winners’ Cup in the process.

Hurst went on to play for Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion, Cork Celtic and Seattle Sounders before turning his hand, briefly, to management. He began his second career in charge of Telford United before two years with Chelsea and, finally a stint at Kuwait SC.

If you want the chance to meet Sir Geoff in person, grab yourself a VIP ticket for £67.50 and you’ll be given the best seats in the house, a photo with Geoff, plus one autograph per person.
