The Room Above to host bumper back-to-back comedy for charity this Friday

Posted on: 13 Dec 2023

The Room Above, a fringe comedy venue above the White Bear on St Michael’s Hill, is hosting a bumper edition of their White Bear Comedy Club in order to fundraise for the housing charity Shelter.

The Room Above is one of Bristol’s most exciting fringe comedy venues – somewhat hidden above The White Bear, at the top of St Michael’s Hill, the Room Above is an intimate comedy venue that focuses on providing a space for fringe comedians both national and international, whilst also supporting and uplifting local talent.

Now, they’re getting even more involved with helping the local community by hosting a extra-large edition of their weekly White Bear Comedy Club in order to fundraise for Shelter, a national housing charity that advocates for housing equality and provides support and advice for those grappling with homelessness.

The event, this Friday 15th December, features a whopping 12 comedians on the bill, plus MC Harry Allmark – making this a great deal for your £10 ticket fee (all of which will be donated directly to Shelter).

Those 12 comedians are comprised of some great fringe comedy talent, including some bright-burning local acts. The audience can expect to see top-notch comedy from comedians like Tom Hutchinson (Bath Comedy Festival New Act Competition 2022 Finalist), Alisdair Wallace (LGBTQ New Act of the Year semifinalist) and, as mentioned, MC Harry Allmark (also the Artistic Director of the Room Above).

This is a great chance to catch a bevvy of top new comedians, and help a really good cause at the same time. As mentioned, the show is this Friday, the 15th of December, and starts at 19:30. Tickets are £10, and can be bought here.

To find out what else is on at The Room Above, check out their website for their full listings. For more information on Shelter, and what they do, you can find their online presence here.
