Posted on: 12 Dec 2023

With rave reviews already pouring in, the BS3 theatre follows on from last year’s The Snow Queen with a glorious reimagining of Charles Dickens’s Oliver Twist.

Oliver Twist runs at Tobacco Factory Theatres until Sunday 21 January 2024.

Written by Olivier Award-winning Bristol playwright Adam Peck and marking TFT’s brand new Artistic Director Heidi Vaughan's first production as director, this classic tale will be brought to life in a riotous fashion as Oliver escapes the workhouse and joins the outrageous escapades of Fagin and co.

Tickets for the show are available now with a range of options available – grab yours HERE.

Oliver Twist centres around the life of the eponymously named orphan, who is born in a workhouse before being sold into apprenticeship with an undertaker. He escapes, fleeing to London, where he meets the ‘Artful Dodger’ and his colourful gang of pickpockets, led by Fagin and becomes lost in the dangerous criminal underground of Victorian London.

Charles Dickens’ second novel, first published as a serial between 1837 and 1839, takes a deep dive into the sordid world of mid-19th century London, satirising the hypocrisies of the time, including child labour, street children and more.

A brighter, bigger-hearted production you will not find, as Tobacco Factory Theatres brings a wonderfully festive adaptation of this legendary tale to Bristol with a belly full of cheer. This 200-year-old tale has never been told quite like this!

Oliver Twist runs at Tobacco Factory Theatres until Sunday 21 January 2024 with tickets available to purchase now, HERE.
