The Neville Staple Band at The Fleece on Saturday 17th November 2018

Legendary frontman Neville Staple will perform at Bristol's legendary music venue The Fleece on Saturday 17th November 2018.

Staple, erstwhile singer of The Specials, Fun Boy Three and Special Beat is legend of the Ska movement. Celebrating a 40-year career and priding himself on being credited as 'the original rude boy', he's changed the face of pop music several times.

With origins in the music business performing with the likes of Pete Waterman, Ray King, The Coventry Automatics and Jah Baddis Sound System before making unprecedented musical waves with The Specials during their renowned Clash tour, Staple's 2-Tone legacy is as monumental as it is groundbreaking.

Appropriate then that Staple takes to the stage of The Fleece in the year that represents the 40th anniversary of the 2-Tone movement. As Staple himself says: "The way we brought ska to the mainstream was by mixing Jamaican music with the English style, which at the time was punk. The movement helped to transcend and defuse racial tensions in Thatcher-era Britain. The actual black and white chequered imagery of 2 Tone has become almost as famous as the music itself.

"I remember the massive reactions to the hit songs like Ghost Town, Too Much Too Young and Gangsters and fans still write to me about my rugged, energetic and fun stage presence." Staple and his band will be supported by notorious and popular Ska heroes The Emperials, whose lively, riotous gigs have equally entertained the music-mad masses with its stonking 8-piece line-up.

Shaping up to one of the gigs of, not just the month, but the year, doors open at 7 pm. Tickets cost £18.50 and there are only a handful remaining, so you'd better act quickly and snap 'em up here.

The Fleece is located at 12 St Thomas St., Bristol, BS1 6JJ.  Tel. 0117 945 0996
