BIRDSPEED to perform at Spotlight poetry showcase TONIGHT at The Crofters RightsPosted on: 09 Oct 2018
Providing an essential platform for emerging poetic talent, Spotlight provides a warm and welcoming showcase of local artists in the cities’ cultural heart: Stokes Croft.
Today, the collectives are welcoming BIRDSPEED to the stage: a storyteller in prose, poetry and, dance weaved effortlessly to curate powerful and empowering performance. Born in Barbados but raised in London, BIRDSPEED’s work is often an amalgamation of social commentary and auto-biographical tales including themes on Afrofuturism and Caribbean folklore and feminism.
Most recently, BIRDSPEED’s uplifting message has been performed at Bristol Old Vic and WOMAD Festival: two iconic venues for performance art.
This time, BIRDSPEED will be performing at The Crofters Rights for RTB and MP’s fantastic monthly showcase. Get down early to grab a seat and to sign up for open mic. Oh... and remember - it's Raise The Bar's 4th birthday!
Join the collectives, BIRDSPEED and fellow poetry lovers for good pints, great pizza and, eclectic performance art.
Entry is £3 OTD: cash and card are accepted. Doors open at 7:30 pm and the show will start at 8 pm. The Crofters Rights is located at 117-119 Stokes Croft, Bristol, BS1 3RW.
