The full lineup for Simple Things Festival 2018.

Known as champions of upcoming artists, both local and from further afield, the Simple Things team has worked to deliver one of their most diverse and hard-hitting lineups to date in 2018. Their decision to split the event into day and night billings has allowed them to focus more energy on selecting the most exciting artists of their respective scenes.

Topping the daytime programme is pioneering British shoegaze band Slowdive. Formed in the late 80s, the band were one of the enduring forces of UK guitar music throughout the 90s and into the early 2000s before their amicable split. They made an unexpected comeback in 2014 and their 2017 self-titled album received widespread critical acclaim, reinstating their relevance within contemporary music and reintroducing themselves to the European live circuit.

From there, as always, the rest of the lineup is made up of a hugely diverse cast of accomplished musicians, including the live analogue explorations of James Holden and the Animal Spirits, the modern Jazz sound of London-based Kamaal Williams, Jimothy Lacoste's upbeat, good-vibes-only rap and much more.

This year's nighttime programme also presents Bristol dance music fans to experience some of the hottest DJs on the scene right now. Topping the bill is German DJ and producer Helena Hauff, known around the world as a spinner of some of the hardest industrial techno tracks around, bringing in elements of acid house and electro if and when she sees fit.

Alongside Hauff sits an all-star lineup of some of the most exciting artists in worldwide underground music. DJ Stingray, known for his unique brand of breakneck speed electro which, according to Helena Hauff herself, "no-one plays like he does", will be on hand with a typically mind-blowing selection on Saturday evening.

Backed up by Glaswegian genre-spanning duo Optimo, London-based Jane Fitz, up-and-coming Portuguese artist Mafalda and more, the 2018 Simple Things nighttime parties are not to be missed.

For the first time ever in 2018, tickets for Simple Things' day and night events will be sold separately and can be found here. For more information on the festival, or to follow ticketing and venue news, visit the Simple Things website or check out their Facebook page.
