The story of a lovable but whacky inventor on his quest to save his children from the clutches of the evil Baron Bomburst, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is certain to have audiences of all ages flying high with its mixture of madness, intrigue and exuberance. Produced by Bristol's very own multi-award winning BLOC Productions, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang represents the group's latest musical sensation to take the stage since the successes of Sister Act, Sunset Boulevard, Fiddler on the Roof and My Fair Lady in recent years.
Follow eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts as he sets about restoring an old race car with the help of his two children. The team soon discover that the car has a few magical qualities, but trouble brews when the evil Baron Bomburst decides to try to keep the magic car for himself! An adventure ensues, creating an enthralling story that the whole family will love.
As well as the excellent story, audiences will be treated to the pure spectacle of the musical score and routines, with an unforgettable soundtrack that includes songs like 'Truly Scrumptious', 'Toot Sweets', 'Me Old Bamboo' and, of course, the title track, 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'.
BLOC’s large and award-winning company is delighted to be bringing true stage magic to The Hippodrome stage. The company enjoys a well-deserved reputation of staging spectacular musicals, with outstanding local principal actors, a large and dynamic choral ensemble, and a full-sized live professional orchestra.
