Hit Musical “The Bodyguard” Coming to Bristol Hippodrome in March 2019

The smash hit production is based on the Lawrence Kasdan’s 1992 romantic thriller starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, whose best-selling soundtrack sold more than 45 million copies worldwide. In 2012 Alexander Dinelaris wrote the story as a musical for stage, and the international production has attracted sold out crowds ever since. Since starting in the West End, the show has toured worldwide and continues to thrill audiences.
The plot follows the story of music star Rachel Marron and her love affair with the bodyguard hired to protect her from an anonymous threatening stalker. Betwixt death threats, assassination attempts and arguments over which of them is in charge, the two leads’ unexpected romance faces a series of twists and turns.
The show will be produced by Michael Harrison and David Ian, and features songs including Queen of the Night, So Emotional, One Moment in Time, Saving All My Love, I Have Nothing, Million Dollar Bill, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and one of the greatest hit songs of all time – I Will Always Love You. It will be directed by the award-winning Thea Sharrock (Sunshine Boys, Equus, The Misanthrope).
“The Bodyguard” has been called ‘London’s best musical’ and has been awarded 5 stars in multiple reviews. In 2013 it was nominated for four Laurence Olivier Awards including 'Best New Musical' and was nominated for ‘Best Night Out’ by the Evening Standard.
