URGENT CALL for 2018 Bristol 10k runners, marshals and supporters for Cancer Charity run

Posted on: 10 Apr 2018

A LEADING cancer charity urgently needs Bristol 10k runners and volunteers to help ensure the event’s success.

Bristol-based Penny Brohn UK wants as many runners as possible to pound the pavements in its purple colours on Sunday, May 13.

The impressive 6.2-mile route heads down Anchor Road, along the Portway, underneath Brunel’s iconic Suspension Bridge and back via Cumberland Road and historic harbour.

Penny Brohn events and community administrator Sarah Godfrey said: “The 10k is a brilliant chance to see beautiful Bristol whilst helping us continue to support people facing the disease. We’ll fully support you, with things including a personalised running vest, fundraising pack, regular training and fundraising e-newsletters, and chance to visit us to see how you helped.”

The charity also needs 60 volunteer marshals and cheerpoint cheerers to help the day run smoothly.

“Marshals will ensure the course is safe, direct and encourage runners, assist organisers to make the event successful and hand out finish line packs. Cheerpoint volunteers will give our runners a boost by making as much noise as possible at designated points,” added Sarah.

With over 37 years’ experience, Penny Brohn recognises that people with cancer need more than medicine. Their Bristol Whole Life Approach provides integrated whole person cancer support that works alongside medical treatment to achieve the best health and wellbeing. The approach explores areas such as diet, exercise, relationships and managing stress, through free residential and day courses, one-to-one therapies, groups and national helpline. Penny Brohn supports anyone with cancer and their loved ones, before, during and after treatment.

Running entry costs £30 and Penny Brohn asks for £125 minimum sponsorship.
