George The Poet Performs at the Everyman Cinema, Bristol on the 18th April 2018

George The Poet is to perform his spoken word poetry at the Everyman Cinema in Bristol on Wednesday the 18th April, with fresh offerings which he describes as akin to “Rick and Morty doing a TED Talk”.

Born George Mpanga in North West London, the young artist is known for delving into social and political issues through his rap and poetry. Since undertaking a degree in Politics, Psychology and Sociology at Cambridge from 2010 to 2013, George has been nominated for various awards including a shortlist for Critics’ Choice Award at the BRITS in 2015. He has truly been ‘one to watch’, collaborating with artists such as Chase & Status, as well as recently being elected as a Member of the National Council of Arts Council for England. George the Poet Bristol Everyman Cinema His work is influenced by an amalgamation of rappers and poets such as Dizzee Rascal, Tupac, Maya Angelou and George Watsky. Named 'Have You Heard George's Podcast?’, his upcoming tour will entertain audiences through a fusion of musical storytelling and satirical commentary based on his own personal experiences. 

Generating a reach beyond his performance, the artist has also created an app - ‘The Search Party’. Along with lyrics and videos of his work, it allows audiences to find out more about the issues he confronts and directs them towards ways to help an array of social causes discussed within his poetry. George the Poet Bristol Everyman Cinema George’s Bristol show will take place in Screen 1 of the Everyman Cinema, located at 44 Whiteladies Road on Wednesday 18th April from 8pm.
