Where to take your Mum out to eat in Bristol this Mother's Day on Sunday 11th March

Posted on: 06 Mar 2018

This weekend, the 11th March is Mothering Sunday. A day dedicated to our special mums, who carried us for nine months in the womb, brought us up, nurtured us through life, changed our nappies, wiped our nose, endured our interminable growing pains, our flagrant tantrums, our fluctuating teenage hormones, and our dubious partner choices.

Nothing says ‘I appreciate and love you’ more than delicious food and we have picked out some great spots to take the Mother out to this weekend in Bristol. Two restaurants are even inviting Mums to eat for free! But you'll have to keep reading to find out where...

Gloucester Old Spot

Sunday Roast at Gloucester Old Spot in Bristol

Winner of numerous Best Pub Food awards, Gloucester Old Spot is a family run gastro pub, on Kellaway Avenue, Horfield. Specialising in fine ales and locally sourced food.

A beautiful light and airy restaurant with stunning feature nooks, mismatched wooden chairs, hanging tealights and a huge garden, expect a home from home feel without that typical 'pub' aesthetic. Gloucester Old Spot is also great for those with children, with baskets brimming with colouring books, games and a playhouse in the garden. Dogs on leads are also welcomed.

Duck and Willow

Anyone who has visited The Gloucester Old Spot will recognise the same unpretentious formula for a top-quality establishment in its sister pub, The Duck and Willow: namely, simple food executed excellently and a wide selection of drinks, all to be enjoyed in a warm, welcoming environment.

The pub on Downend Road aims to be local in its every element, from the furnishing down to the food – their lunch, dinner and Sunday menus are powered by the Gloucester Old Spot pigs.
