Best places to go sledging in Bristol if the snow settles

Posted on: 01 Mar 2018

As most of the country is now decorated white, and Bristol is slowly but surely following suit; many of us will have a snow day (if we’re lucky). If so, everybody needs to spend it with a sledge in the snow, of course. There are various spots around the city to do so for both adults and children alike, take a look below:

Where to sledge in Bristol

Victoria Park Bedminster

Victoria Park is relatively tame in terms of slopes, making it perfect for young children and a more gentle experience in the snow.

St Andrews Park Bishopston

St Andrews is a landscaped Victorian park with a large paddling pool and children's play area, plus a pop-up café mainly used in the spring summer time. In the snow however, there are a couple of slopes perfect for sledging! Nearby on Gloucester Road, there are many warm cafes to enjoy a hot drink afterwards.

Ashton Court

Ashton Court is a huge estate spanning 850 acres of untouched land, also home to a huge mansion, exploring in the snow is a true winter delight and you’re guaranteed to see some wildlife along the way. There are plenty of good sledging spots around.

Brandon Hill

Brandon Hill is you guessed it, a massive hill. Located just off Park Street you can also explore the wonderful Cabot Tower, walk to the top and you can see views that span all over Bristol for miles.

Redland Green Park

Redland Green Park is a great spot to play in the snow. Home to a child’s area with a variety of fun equipment, and a large area with some slopes, it’s perfect for the kids (and adults too of course).

Troopers Hill

Troopers Hill is a nature reserve in the St George area overlooking the River Avon. This spot is perhaps for the more adventurous as the terrain changes in places. Said to be one of the best wildlife spots around the city, there’s much to explore there as well as some fantastic slopes to sledge on.

Have fun, be safe and keep warm folks!
