Kendal Mountain Festival Tour comes to Bristol 17th March 2018 at the Redgrave Theatre

Kendal Mountain Festival embarks on an adventure tour this year, catching Bristol on the 17th March 2018. The Festival is described as a high quality, authentic experience and certainly is one of the most varied events of its type around. It's the main social event for outdoor enthusiasts, adventurers and filmmakers, having previously won the Visit England Tourism Event of the Year award.

At the heart of KMF's programme is an International Film Competition, attracting premières from around the world. Over 70 films are screened (from 200+ entries each year) with many coveted prizes and laurels up for grabs. Together with the Art and Literature programme, the packed Specialist Sessions (incl. Climbing, Bike, Snowsports, WildWater, Adv & Exploration, Endurance and Free-Flight), the Boardman Tasker literary award, the industry Filmmaking Summit and the training Adventure Film Academy for aspiring filmmakers, make it one of the most popular mountain festivals in the world.

This year, the people behind KMF will be sprinkling the spirit and inspiration of the Festival to sixteen venues across the UK for a one-of-a-kind evening celebrating exploration of some of the wildest places on earth. Each session will feature incredible speakers alongside a selection of their award-winning adventure films. For their Bristol tour date they have two incredible speakers lined up: Antonia Bolingbroke-Kent and Ben Saunders.

Antonia Bolingbroke-Kent is an award-winning adventurer and author, with a particular love for embarking on difficult journeys through remote regions. In spring 2016, Antonia ventured on a 2000 mile journey to the farthest valleys of Arunachal Pradesh, a uniquely isolated, mountainous state clinging to the far north-eastern corner of India, to chronicle the history and legends of this mysterious and barely known part of the world.

Ben Saunders is one of the world’s leading polar explorers, and a record-breaking long-distance skier who has covered more than 6,000km (3,700 miles) on foot in the Polar Regions since 2001.

As well as hearing from Antonia and Ben, they'll also be showing a selection of their favourite films from Kendal Mountain Festival 2017 – from flying above the Azores to freediving with Orcas, from skateboarding across Colarado to swimming in the wild ocean – you'll be taken on a journey you'll never forget!
