Frank Turner's latest album, Be More Kind, is due for release on Friday 4th May 2018.

Now a hugely successful solo singer-songwriter, Frank Turner started his musical journey as part of post-hardcore band Million Dead, who split back in 2005. In the years since, Turner has released seven full-length studio albums to widespread critical acclaim, with a combination of solo projects and collaborative efforts with The Sleeping Souls.

Frank Turner has also performed across the world with The Sleeping Souls, at venues and festivals across the UK, US and more. His love for folk and rock music is deep-rooted, and shines through in his own releases and on-stage performances.  His show in Bristol in April is one of 18 UK & Ireland shows this year, with shows also scheduled in Manchester, Dublin, Exeter and more.

The imminent release of Be More Kind marks a change of direction for Turner, a project which has been shaped, in part, by recent global goings-on. Turner was halfway through writing a very different sort of album, a concept record about women from the historical record who had been ignored, when he was reading a collection of Clive James’ poetry and one particular line compelled him to re-think his direction. It was from a poem called Leçons Des Ténèbres: “I should have been more kind. It is my fate. To find this out, but find it out too late.”

Turner and his band, the Sleeping Souls, were on tour in the USA in 2016 “when the world decided to go collectively nuts” and the songs that make up Be More Kind started to come together. One of the driving themes of the album is empathy, even for your enemy - “you should at least be able to inhabit the mental universe of the people you disagree with. If you can’t do that, then how do you communicate with people other than through force of arms, which is something we all agree is a bad idea.”

Tickets for Frank Turner live at the O2 Academy Bristol on Friday 27th April 2018 are on sale at 10am on Friday 2nd February and can be found here. For more information, visit the O2 Academy Bristol website or check out their Facebook page.
