It's time to don the fedora, leather jacket and whip, folks. Everyone's favourite screen hero archaeologist, Indiana Jones, will be brought to life like never before when Bristol's Colston Hall presents Raiders of the Lost Ark in Concert on Thursday 5th April 2018.

Steven Spielberg's 1981 classic - indisputably one of the greatest adventure movies ever made and, incidentally, my favourite film of all time - will see the superior musical talents of The Czech National Symphony Orchestra perform John Williams' legendary, iconic score live to a large screen projection of the movie.

It's 1936 and Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is sent on a quest by U.S. Army Intelligence to locate and bring back the fabled Ark of the Covenant before it falls in to the evil hands of the treacherous Nazis. The adventure takes him to Nepal and Egypt, along the way reuniting with old friend Sallah (John Rhys-Davis), old foe Belloq (Paul Freeman), and old, feisty flame Marion (Karen Allen).

An action adventure masterpiece, Spielberg's film is just as much brilliant, thrilling fun as it was when it was first released, and Harrison Ford's Indy (a role originally offered to Tom Selleck, who had to turn it down due to his commitment to the TV series, Magnum PI) is a role he made his inimitable, roguish, laconic own and the stuff of celluloid legend.

For true film fans - and let's be honest, they really don't make them like that anymore - and those of us who like our tales of epic derring-do told with great acting, impeccable direction, eye-popping set-pieces and a fabulous symphonic score, this is definitely one to scribble in to next year's diary.

Ticket prices range from £27.50 to £55.00 (including booking fee) and can be purchased here

Colston Hall is located at Colston Street, Bristol, BS1 5AR.  Tel.  0844 887 1500
