In our My Bristol Food series, we talk with some of the most prominent Bristol foodies around to get their take on what makes the city's culinary scene tick and also get their recommendations. This week we spoke with Bristol foodie legend, Alice Dalrymple.

My Bristol Food

Who are you?- I'm Alice and I've lived in Bristol for 8 years. I moved here initially to go to University and following my graduation I couldn't consider leaving as the city really felt like home! I currently work as the events co-ordinator for The Station and also co-run the Bristol Food Tour, we host a variety of different walking and cycling Bristol across the different areas of Bristol. When not sniffing out new places to eat I also like running, blogging and cacti.

Where are your most-visited food places in Bristol?- Oh my goodness there are so many that I absolutely love. I currently live in Cotham which means I'm only a stones throw from Gloucester road and Stokes croft. My favourite around this area is Dain Korea because it's hands down the best Korean food I've had plus it's BYO which is always a bonus. It's my number one hidden gem for delicious food. Further afield I adore St Nicks market and the cargos at Wapping wharf and I love going to visit the guys at Eatchu on Exchange Ave for comforting gyozas and the Bristol Cheesemonger as Rosie is so knowledgeable about her products and is generous with the tasters!

Where in Bristol has the...

Best Burger- As a vegetarian I am always on the look out for a great veggie burger. I think the best I've had lately is from Squeezed.

Best Sunday Roast- The Cadbury

Best Pub/bar- The Cotham arms because of their excellent gin menu

Best Pizza- Flour & Ash or Berthas and I refuse to choose out of the two…

Best for special occasions- Yurt Lush

Best Brunch- Ceres

Best indie producer/shop/market- The Bristol Cheesemonger, Zara's chocolates and St Nicks market

Best cake!- Ahh toots in St Nicks market or Papa deli. Both impress me every single time!

Any other top foodie tips?- I think Easton is often forgotten in the foodie map of Bristol which is such a shame because it's brilliant! I think everyone needs to spend a couple of hours exploring St Marks road and making a stop off at Zam Zam's bakery for a lahmaujon followed by some delicious barfi from Sweet mart. I also love the weekend Harbourside market and my favourite trader is For Mice and Men who make delicious grilled cheese.

If you were the Mayor of Bristol for a day what would you do?- I'd make use of all of the empty buildings in Bristol in a way that supports the community and then sort out the bus service before hosting a huge free ice-cream party to celebrate.

You’ve got 24 hours in Bristol to show some visitors around. What are you going to do?- I'd start with brunch at Ceres and then take them to the Clifton Lido for a swim before strolling down park street for ice-cream at Swoon. Then we'd have a walk around the harbour, as it's one of my favourite places to unwind, before visiting Wapping wharf for a brew and a slice of the banana bread at Little Vics. Then we'd have to go into the Arnolfini to see the Grayson Perry exhibition before heading to Poco to eat lots of tapas and drink cocktails! Wow that would be such a great day!
