My Bristol Food - Tianna Williams

Posted on: 03 Oct 2017

In our My Bristol Food series, we talk with some of the most prominent Bristol foodies around to get their take on what makes the city's culinary scene tick and also get their recommendations. This week we spoke with Bristol blogger Tianna Williams.

Who are you? I am the GRLNXTDOOR but just Tianna in real life. I’m a full time marketing assistant, part time lifestyle blogger and born and raised Bristolian.

Where are your most-visited food places in Bristol? It’s probably a very close call between TGI’s, CAU and Aluna!

Where in Bristol has the...

Best Burger – I’m not a massive burger fan so I’m going to shamefully say KFC! I tried Oowee Diner after raving recommendations and really wasn’t impressed.

Best Sunday Roast – I was raised in a Caribbean household so Sundays weren’t always for roasts but Caribbean Croft do exactly the type of Sunday dinner I love!

Best Pub/bar – Turtle Bay can’t be beaten on cocktails and atmosphere.

Best for special occasions – Aluna, it reminds me of Hogwarts and I love Harry Potter.

Best Brunch – Grounded, possibly because it’s the only place I’ve ever been for brunch.

Best Indian – Hands down Eastern Taste on St Marks Road. It’s close to home, family run and incredible value for money. I have been going there as long as I can remember and have never ever had a bad experience.

Top Tip - Bristol is full to the brim with food spots so don’t be like me and stick to a place until you’re sick of it. Explore!

If you were the Mayor of Bristol for a day what would you do? Seriously, I would try to tackle our homelessness problem one way or another. I would also give out free fried chicken and cocktails because who doesn’t love a freebie?

You’ve got 24 hours in Bristol to show some visitors around. What are you going to do? Me? I probably wouldn’t start the day until the afternoon due to being lazy and that would be spent shopping in Zara in Cabot Circus. Then a fun dinner and drinks at Aluna, moving on to Turtle Bay and then bar hopping around Bristol. The hangover the next day would probably be cured by a greasy breakfast in Bedminster at the Sunshine Café then a nice walk through Vassles Park. If the bank allows we might even end the day with a cinema trip to Everyman on Whiteladies Road.
