Visit the 165th Annual RWA Open Exhibition

The Royal West of England Academy opened its' doors over the weekend to kick off their annual Open Exhibition for its' 165th installment. The show runs from 1st October - 3rd December 2017 and features a stunning variety of work from emerging and established artists alike.

 

The RWA's Open Exhibition is now underway for the 165th year.

 

The Open Exhibition invites submissions of all forms including paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography and more to showcase some of the most exciting artists from the UK and abroad. All the work on show is also on sale, making the Open Exhibition the perfect place to discover new talent or invest in a piece by a well-known artist.

 

The exhibition is open to visitors from 10am-6pm Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-5pm Sunday and bank holiday Mondays. Adult tickets cost £6.95 and concessions are £4.95, while UWE and UOB students qualify for free entry with their university student card. Tickets for the exhibition are paid for on the door rather than pre-booking.

 

The invited artists this year include Royal Academy President and prolific painter, sculptor and printmaker Christopher Le Brun, and photographic artist Tom Hunter, known for his documentation of everyday life in Hackney, London.

 

There are prizes available for some of the best-judged artwork and artists, including a solo show at David Simon Contemporary, a chance to feature in Evolver Magazine, cash prizes and more. This year's panel of selectors include Bluecoat Head of Programme Marie-Anne McQuay, writer, curator and lecturer James Russell and Joseph Clarke, director of Anima-Mundi.
