Upfest 2017 - What You Need to Know

Posted on: 03 Jul 2017

If you know Bristol, you will know that it has a pretty big passion for street art and nothing encapsulates this more than Upfest! This incredible array of street artists will be descending on Bristol on 29th - 31st July. This is an event you really have to see to appreciate. The entirety of North Street, in Bedminster, is transformed into an artistic nirvana, with shop fronts getting creative licks of paint, entire buildings having extravagant murals and fun activities for the whole family.

People lining the streets for Upfest last year

Upfest is a multi-venue urban festival with the 1.3km stretch of North Street connecting venues and painting locations. The multi-venue urban setting has given the festival it's transient feel, with visitors encouraged to explore and find what's around the next corner. This year there are even more artists than usual and it promises to be better than ever!

There are more artists than you could shake a stick at! Check out all of them here. An array of musical accompaniment will be on hand to help visitors paint the town in a more figurative sense. Artists can even still register to paint at the event here, but be quick as there isn't much time for the event and spaces are very much limited.

Upfest brings you not only an amazing selection of local shop and eateries, they've also enhanced the area for the festival weekend with a superb range of festival food, crafts and clothing stalls, be sure to sample delicious ice creams, a hit of the finest espresso or tummy-tastic food from around the world, all whilst walking away with some of the latest t-shirts and originally designed clothing.

The festival has plenty of different volunteering roles available, whatever your skills and abilities may be, and whether you're available before, during or after the festival - or all of the above! You can apply to volunteer by clicking here.

Whether you are new to Bristol or just visiting, this is a street art event that you really won't want to miss!
