Be in the audience as a number of stand-up comics test out their material ahead of the Fringe, as part of the Bunch of Japes comedy nights at Bristol’s Smoke & Mirrors.

Edinburg Road Trip

June is the month in which stand-ups the country over sit down to write their new routines with all eyes on the Edinburgh Festival, during which the streets of the city are given over to all things funny, musical and dramatic for the majority of August. The audiences of the Scottish capital, however, can represent hostile environments in which to launch new jokes, thus a bit of prior preparation is always prescient.

To this end, Smoke & Mirrors, the magical bar in the centre of Bristol, are hosting a series of nights, (cleverly entitled Bunch of Japes) at which Edinburgh-borne funnymen and women can trial their gags and sharpen their tongues with a small group of honest spectators in their intimate theatre.

This week’s performances are as follows:

  • Monday 19th June – Sarah Keyworth and Harriet Kemsley
  • Tuesday 20th June – Pat Cahill and Will Duggan
  • Sunday 25th June – Fin Taylor and Matt Ewins

All of the shows begin at 8pm and cost a discounted price of £3.50., if you book online – you can do so here.
