Help clean up Bristol's harbour

Posted on: 11 Apr 2017

Lend a hand to the cause this Sunday (April 16th) when volunteers will converge on Bristol’s harbourside to tidy up the litter that has collected in and around the water over the last month. Read on to find out how you can help.

Bristol Harbour Clean Up

The vast majority of people who have spent any amount of time in Bristol will have, in one way or another, sampled the myriad delights offered by its harbour: in the sun, there are few better places in the city to be.

Where fun leads, however, litter inevitably follows, resulting in a great deal of rubbish ending up either in the water or washed up on its depositories. Though the harbour has a dedicated team looking after it daily, during the warmer climes they need all the help they can get.

On Sunday, a group of conscientious Bristolians will descend on the harbour to tackle the litter issue head-on. Operating both on foot and on water, volunteers will scour the area for rubbish, gathering what they find with the promise of a drink afterwards.

Bristol Clean Harbour

It is very much the more the merrier, so if you fancy getting involved head down to the Arnolfini to link up with the others taking part in the clean-up. Bring a pair of gloves and a sense of fun - and a sea worthy vessel if you have access to one. On that, the harbour master has agreed to allow free license for the whole harbour to everyone taking part - so you can get out on the water and have some fun afterwards!
