Stokes Croft Named Amongst the Top 10 ‘Hippest’ Areas in the UK

Posted on: 18 Jan 2017

The bohemian heart of Bristol beat out the majority of the country’s trendiest areas in a nationwide ranking, it has been announced today.

Stokes Croft

Stokes Croft has been named joint-ninth in TravelSupermarket’s Hip Hangout Neighbourhood Index, which purports to be "the definitive ranking of the most up-and-coming neighbourhoods in the UK and Europe".

The city’s independent sector saw off stiff competition, from districts such as Ouseburn in Newcastle and Glasgow’s West End, to be included in the top 10 amongst the likes of Ancoats in Manchester, Leith in Edinburgh and Birmingham’s Digbeth, which respectively comprised the top three.

Speaking to Bristol24/7, Emma Coulthurst from TravelSupermaket said: “The Index will hopefully put Stokes Croft and Bristol even more on the map and encourage new and returning visitors."

With the area constituting a high and diverse concentration of top nightclubs, revered eateries and creative spaces, it is unsurprising that it is awash with artistry and celebrated as such locally. This latest nod will not come as a surprise to any Bristolian, though national recognition cannot do anything but good.
