Bristol-Born The Shimmer Band Return with a Show at The Fleece

Posted on: 07 Oct 2016

Prodigal indie sons The Shimmer Band return to Bristol with a homecoming show at The Fleece on the 4th November, bringing with them enough sun to perforate the autumn drizzle.

The Shimmer Band

Channelling the outlandish positivity of Peace at their poppiest and the wonk of Swim Deep at their most psychedelic (a blend which they themselves brand ‘explosive motoric psych pop’), the massive choruses of recent singles ‘Sunkick’ and ‘Shoot Me (Baby)’ are evidence enough that The Shimmer Band have larger stages and headline berths firmly in their sights.

It shouldn’t be too long before these ambitions come to fruition too: an intensive summer jam-packed with festival dates, including slots at Reading and Leeds, The Great Escape and Isle of Wight, has won them support in high places, with regular 6 Music airtime following accordingly.

As such, the relatively intimate show at The Fleece may well be your last chance to catch the home-grown five-piece this up close and personal. Familiarise yourself with the boys at their website.
