The Alma Tavern Tavern has proved itself to be an incredibly versatile space that has presented hundreds of theatrical productions in Bristol, many of which have been world premieres. This, in addition to having close links with the majority of prestigious theatre companies in the city, has led to the Alma Tavern Theatre being recognised as one of the region's premiere theatre companies.

The theatre has also consistently championed new writing, and for many years Theatre West held a seasonal writing residency there.  Alma Tavern Theatre also works with an encourages the South West's university societies and amateur dramatic groups and regularly presents productions by some of the country's best touring theatres. The venue also works closely with Red Rope, Hecate Theatre and the Bristol Old Vic.
