Bristol 800 is a magnificent, year-long celebration of everything that's great about this sensational city.

Focusing on the vibrant, diverse, challenging and fun aspects of the city's history and heritage, it takes as its starting point the inauguration of Bristol's first recorded mayor, Roger Cordewaner, in 1216, and goes on to explore the thrillingly multitudinous aspects of the city's rich and varied life.

Throughout the rest of the year there will be a raft of exciting events taking place across the city including walks, exhibitions, talks, debates, exhibits and special themed events.

Bristol is indisputably one of the greatest cities in the world (though, being somewhat biased, we'd argue it's actually THE best), so what better way to celebrate everything about its past, present and future that with this fun, educational, thought-provoking and accessible range of events.

For more information and a full program itinerary for the rest of the year, head to the Bristol 800 Festival of Ideas website www.ideasfestival.co.uk along with their Facebook and Twitter pages.
