Posted on: 28 Aug 2014

Ever thought about getting yourself a WSET – Wine & Spirit Education Trust - qualification? If you are based in the South West then why not sign yourselves up with Clifton Wine School in Bristol who run intensive courses intended as vocational training in product knowledge for those employed in the drinks industry as well as those keen to move into the sector. Also of course anyone interested in wine! Ideal candidates would already have a good working understanding of the broad range of alcoholic beverages available, but need to refine and develop their knowledge.

The Level 2 Award Course takes place over 3 Sundays in September and will end with a final exam. The exam will take place at the last session and lasts for 1 hour. In addition to the 16 hours of teaching time, students are expected to complete around 12 hours of private study in their own time. The fee for this course is £295, and includes all study materials and wines.

Important Note: The course deadline for bookings is Saturday 30th August. This is so that all study materials are ordered and prepared in advance of the course.

The Level 3 Award Course runs over 7 Sundays and provides the student with the analytical tasting skill that defines Level 3 from all lower levels. Students will have to learn, and then demonstrate, the ability to critically assess the flavours in wine and be able to account for them using their knowledge of the key wines of the world in the final exam. Level 3 is about understanding the factors that cause a wine to show certain characteristics. The fee for this course is £625, and includes all study materials and wines.

Important Note: The course deadline for bookings is Sunday 21st September. Anyone wishing to book after this deadline should call the Wine School in the first instance to see if provision can be made.
