Review: Alison Moyet at Bristol Beacon
Posted on: 12 Oct 2026A voice that remains truly extraordinary
Some artists become part of the soundtrack to our lives, and Alison Moyet is undoubtedly one of them. Seeing her live is a reminder of just how special that voice remains – powerful, soulful and distinctive.
The set mixed songs from her Yazoo days in the 80s with more recent solo work, including tracks from The Minutes and Other. There was plenty of nostalgia, alongside a darker, more atmospheric feel to some newer material.
Alison was warm, engaging and full of personality, connecting naturally with the audience. Richard Walters provided an enjoyable warm-up, while Bristol Beacon proved an excellent venue.
The audience ended the evening on its feet, giving Alison a well-deserved standing ovation. A brilliant performance from an artist who has lost none of her vocal magic.
A wonderful evening, a beautiful venue and a truly timeless voice.
