We started the night in Stidham Village and entered the new maze ‘seeds of evil’.

This maze replaces house of clowns and I believe was based around a harvest festival? It wasn’t entirely clear and we weren’t given a back story or any story staging like you are in other mazes. This *might* have been okay and we may have been able to build some tension and get a bit scared but unfortunately we were in floods of laughter after the first scene which presented as an actor shouting ‘where’s my hoe, I’ve lost my hoe’ (her farming tool) then she proceeded to scream in my face ‘there she is’ which completely crushed any scared feelings my group may of had. I also think being able to see above that we were just inside a big marquee in some of the areas made it less realistic. We need the dark claustrophobic spaces to give the dramatic effect! A big pretty moon above was nice to look at but not very scary!

Stidham Village is also home to the exorcism (an extra charge, we didn’t do this year but was good on other years, also gives you access to a secret bar), malefica (an average maze), the main stage, the big top bar and the ‘fun fair’ (I’m saying that with a very very lose term, it was 3 rides and a sweet stall all with ridiculous pricing).

I’d say the better mazes and experiences are all located in the Republic of England area. This houses X4, The Core, Vita Nova and Lock 'n Load. There also tends to just be a better atmosphere and more wandering scare actors in this area. In previous years there’s also been pretty cool random bursts of entertainment in this area like laser shows etc, we didn’t catch any this time round unfortunately but we also didn’t spend as long at park this year.

New for 2025 is ‘Lock & Load’ an interactive, fast paced BB gun battle against mutated aliens from the X4 maze. This experience is an additional £12 which will provide you 100 bullets however, you are immediately offered to purchase extra bullets upon entry. The pricing for this is different than that displayed online- 100 bullets for £3 or two packs of 100 for £5 and really, if you want to play properly and not run out of bullets in the first round, you’ll wanna get those extra bullets. We begrudgingly purchased extra despite being a bit miffed thinking if your already paying extra for an attraction they shouldn’t then try and squeeze even more money from you, but nonetheless we had GREAT fun participating in this experience. Expect realistic weapons, great theming , smoke, lasers, dramatic atmosphere and explosions! This  did make us think though- FEAR is really missing that something with the WOW factor, something that sets it apart from elsewhere. This interactive combat option is fantastic, but it’s not a maze & it’s not at all scary. Maybe 2026 could see some sort of interactive scary laser tag maze? Where participants use laser guns around the maze and compete against each other to earn points. Or maybe I’m just too competitive but I do feel if your going to give a group of people a gun and ask them to shoot at things, there’s got to be some sort of point scoring involved, right? Or at least make it scary, it’s FEAR after-all!

Vita-Nova was fantastic as usual. It’s the only maze you get split up from your friends (and they did warn us this year about that, although only at the end of the queue which led to some unhappy people) but really, if you aren’t happy being split up and actually scared- why the hell are you at a fright night! I’m not sure much has changed with Vita Nova, I’m usually too scared to remember it all and just pace through to the end. It’s a much more interactive maze with crawl spaces, lazer lights, mirror mazes, a slide tunnel, huge inflated pillow things you have to push through, smoke pits- it’s great. I’d personally pay to go every year JUST for this maze.

We opted not to complete the core this year, we’ve done it before and we just didn’t fancy queuing over an hour to put huge waders on and get wet feet. It was fun the first year, maybe the second year but we have now avoided it the last two. If you’re a fan of water and cramped claustrophobic spaces tho you’ll love this maze!

Overall the energy seemed slightly flat this year, maybe this was down to the fact we went on a Sunday. Usually we’ve gone on a Saturday and the energy has been great. Staff were commenting that it was a much quieter night but the queues were still an hour per maze so I dread to think how long they were on the prime nights! I would love for 2026 to bring some new mazes, they have the space and facilities, even one extra maze would reduce the queue times drastically and make the price value a bit better. Overall  good experience and would still recommend it, especially to someone who’s never been! but we NEEEED a freshen up for those of us that come every year.
