‘Shalalala’ sees Cian exploring the turmoil and chaos of the world we live in, but finding a ray of optimism within the communities and personal connections that we share. Its soaring vocals, thunderous percussion and inspiring gospel backing vocals provide an exhilarating, mood-boosting rush which underlines his belief that we need to keep hope in sight even when circumstances are tough.

The song was written by Cian with Anton Göransson and Isabella Sjostrand (RAYE), Bill Maybury (James Bay) and Theo Hutchcraft (Calvin Harris, Måneskin). It was produced by Cian and Anton Göransson, the duo also producing the vocals alongside Isabella Sjostrand.

Cian says, “This song is about hope and solidarity in times where the world feels like it needs it most. It’s about holding our friends, loved ones and strangers close and remembering we are all part of the same world, the same community, the same purpose. Love is the only answer, and beauty is there where you look for it. The probability of being born is estimated to be 1 in 400 trillion and never mind that we are all here at the same time…so let’s come together rand let us sing together SHALALALA”.

‘Shalalala’ joins the recent singles ‘Who’s Making You Feel It’ and the title track in previewing the ‘Little Dreaming’ album. The record is a beautifully cohesive work that invites listeners to travel with him on a journey of self-discovery. Put together with a tight-knit group of trusted collaborators, it sees him showcase a dazzling ‘70s and ‘80s sound – influenced by greats such as Elton John, Michael Jackson and Queen – all the while baring his soul through heartfelt, authentic songwriting.

‘Little Dreaming’ is set to add more career highlights to a journey that has already seen Cian achieve so much. In addition to scoring a #1 debut album, he has also amassed over 1.4 billion streams, and earlier this year won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song as the co-writer of SZA’s global hit ‘Saturn’.

‘Little Dreaming’ is available to pre-order HERE. The pick of the physical products is a dazzling tricolour vinyl which is available exclusively from Cian’s official store.

Cian Ducrot: The Emotional Architect of Modern Pop

In a pop world often saturated with polished bravado and calculated image, Cian Ducrot stands apart — not because of grand theatrics, but because of his relentless vulnerability. At just 27, the Irish-born singer-songwriter has carved out a space where sincerity reigns supreme and emotional honesty feels revolutionary.

“Honesty is absolutely the best policy,” Ducrot once told an interviewer, and you can hear it in every aching note of his songs. Whether it’s the grief-drenched Part of Me, a tribute to a lost friend, or the heart-thudding ache of I’ll Be Waiting, Ducrot’s music never shies away from the rawest corners of human experience. It’s this fearlessness — to name pain, to celebrate joy, to admit longing — that has made him one of the most compelling new voices in contemporary pop.

From Passage West to Global Stages

Born in the small town of Passage West in County Cork, Ducrot’s origins are far removed from the glossy corridors of music industry power. Raised in a musical household by a single mother, a classically trained pianist and flautist, Cian’s earliest relationship with music was steeped in tradition. He trained in classical flute and earned a scholarship to London’s Royal Academy of Music, but fate — and an ill-fated trip to Los Angeles — had other plans.

“I left college because I knew I was supposed to be writing songs, not just playing someone else’s,” Ducrot has said. That decision led to a period of intense uncertainty: couch-surfing in London, writing songs in borrowed studios, and posting homemade demos online. But it was also the crucible in which his distinctive voice as a songwriter was forged.

Victory, Loss, and a Breakthrough

It was 2022’s All For You — a plaintive, piano-led ballad about the agony of watching someone love the wrong person — that broke him into the mainstream. The song’s viral success on TikTok and streaming platforms captured the attention of a generation hungry for unfiltered emotion, and the follow-up, I’ll Be Waiting, only solidified his reputation as a master of the heartbreak anthem.

His debut album Victory arrived in 2023 and did the unthinkable for a newcomer: it shot straight to No. 1 in both the UK and Ireland. Yet the record’s title belies its content — Victory is as much about resilience in grief as it is about triumph. It’s a collection of songs that grapple with fractured families, absent fathers, lost friends, and the tentative hope of new love.

The Songwriter’s Songwriter

Ducrot’s talent hasn’t gone unnoticed by his peers. A recent collaboration with R&B luminary SZA resulted in a Grammy Award for co-writing her hit Saturn, and he’s spent much of the past year touring arenas alongside Ed Sheeran — another master of heart-on-sleeve songwriting.

While some artists lean into theatrical personas or trend-chasing sonics, Ducrot remains resolutely himself. His music fuses elements of folk, indie-pop, and even classical influences, but at its core, it’s his storytelling — gentle, bruised, and unflinching — that resonates.

A Voice for the Moment

As Cian Ducrot readies his sophomore album Little Dreaming, set for release in July 2025, there’s a palpable sense of an artist hitting his stride. Lead single Who’s Making You Feel It hints at a broader sonic palette while retaining the lyrical intimacy fans cherish. Upcoming headlining tours through the UK and Europe are already nearly sold out.

What makes Ducrot remarkable isn’t just his musicality — though his multi-instrumental skills and delicate tenor voice are undeniable — it’s the way he makes listeners feel seen. In an age of detachment, his songs offer connection. They remind us that grief, hope, loneliness, and love are not burdens to carry alone.

Conclusion

Cian Ducrot might be a new name to some, but his rise is no fluke. His work embodies a rare thing in pop music: the courage to be messy, vulnerable, and completely, unapologetically human. And in doing so, he’s crafting not just hit songs, but the soundtrack to a generation quietly learning how to feel again.
