About The Fratellis
The Fratellis are a Scottish rock band from Glasgow, formed in 2005. The trio consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Jon Fratelli (born John Lawler), bassist Barry Fratelli (born Barry Wallace), and drummer Mince Fratelli (born Gordon McRory). Despite sharing the same stage surname, the members are not related; they adopted the name "Fratelli," which means "brothers" in Italian.
The band's debut album, Costello Music, was released in 2006 and achieved significant success, peaking at number two on the UK Albums Chart and spending 83 weeks in the UK Top 100. The album featured hit singles like "Chelsea Dagger," "Henrietta," and "Whistle for the Choir," which contributed to their rapid rise in popularity.
In 2008, The Fratellis released their second album, Here We Stand, which reached number five on the UK Albums Chart. Following this release, the band took a hiatus in 2009, during which members pursued individual projects. They reunited in 2012 and released their third album, We Need Medicine, in 2013, followed by Eyes Wide, Tongue Tied in 2015 and In Your Own Sweet Time in 2018.
Their most recent album, Half Drunk Under a Full Moon, was released in 2021. This album marked a continuation of their exploration into diverse musical styles, blending their signature rock sound with elements of pop and soul.
The Fratellis continue to actively perform and will be headlining Bristol Sounds on Saturday 28 June 2025. This event will also feature performances by Cast, Sleeper, Goldie Lookin Chain, and Stereo MCs.
Throughout their career, The Fratellis have been recognized for their energetic performances and catchy melodies, maintaining a dedicated fan base and a significant presence in the UK rock scene.
