Lord of the Lost at Prospect Building on 7 November 2025

Over the past 15 years, LORD OF THE LOST is a name that has embedded itself into the top tier of dark and heavy music. Juggling elements of metal, industrial, glam, rock and pop, the genre-fluid group continues to invent itself over and over again, both musically and visually, to rising national and international success.

To date, the band have released albums including ‘EMPYREAN’ (2016) and ‘THORNSTAR’ (2018), both of which entered the Top 10 of the German Album Charts at #9 and #6 respectively, whilst their staggering successful double album ‘JUDAS’ (2021) reached #2.

However, it was 2023 that would prove to be a watershed moment for the band. The arrival of their album ‘BLOOD & GLITTER’ would cement their status as hard rock heavyweights when it leaped straight to #1 and remained in the album charts for seven weeks in total. Later that year, the group would prove underdog winners of Germany’s Eurovision preliminary stage, charging them onto an heroic performance at the LIVERPOOL EUROVISION SONG CONTEST in May of that year with their anthemic “Blood & Glitter” track. And to cap it off, the year would also see Lord of the Lost tour with hard rock legends IRON MAIDEN,  their second summer tour with Bruce Dickinson and co. in a row.

Last year, Lord of the Lost released the sensational covers album ‘WEAPONS OF MASS SEDUCTION’, a record that again stormed the charts and earned them a #2 chart position in Germany; success that was sealed with a major European tour titled "15 Years of LORD OF THE LOST", their first ever tours of the USA and Canada, as well as the grand year-end finale at LORDFEST in Hamburg.

Looking ahead to a bright 2025, the wheels are already in motion for a new album to come this year… watch this space for developments.

Seeing LORD OF THE LOST live is so much more than just a concert. Their hard-hitting and theatrical performances exude endless energy, while their dedicated crowds come together like a close knit community. Promising an experience you won’t forget in hurry, join the band in Bristol and Manchester this Autumn for a spectacle like no other.

Support for both shows will come from special guests SKARLETT RIOT and JULIEN - K.

Lord of the Lost: A Dark Symphony of Metal and Gothic Elegance

Band Overview

Formed in 2007 in Hamburg, Germany, Lord of the Lost is a band that has carved its own unique niche within the realms of dark metal, gothic rock, and industrial. Known for their theatrical live performances and their musical fusion of gothic, metalcore, industrial, and electronic influences, the band has captured a diverse fanbase across Europe and beyond. Their sound, often described as symphonic and brooding, bridges the gap between heavy metal and dark, atmospheric soundscapes, earning them comparisons to bands like HIM, Nightwish, and Type O Negative, but with a distinctly modern edge.

Musical Style and Influences

Lord of the Lost’s music is known for its heavy use of duality—blending aggressive, metalcore-inspired riffs with lush, melodic arrangements. The band's sound often ventures into the realms of industrial metal, symphonic rock, and gothic darkwave, incorporating elements of electronic beats and symphonic orchestration. While their heavier tracks can feature guttural screams and thunderous drums, their more melodic material often leans into melancholic, orchestral arrangements, creating a sense of emotional depth and atmospheric tension.

The band frequently explores themes of darkness, introspection, existentialism, and the complexities of human emotions, often drawing from gothic literature, horror, and film for inspiration. This helps them maintain a strong connection to the gothic subculture, while their heavier and more experimental sound keeps them appealing to metal enthusiasts.

Band Members and Formation

Lord of the Lost was founded by Christopher Harms, the band’s frontman, who serves as the lead vocalist and primary songwriter. Harms is the creative force behind much of the band’s identity, both musically and visually. His versatile vocal style, which ranges from deep, guttural growls to soaring, melodic clean vocals, is one of the defining elements of the band's sound.

The rest of the lineup has seen some changes over the years, but the core members have included:

Sebastian "Sebi" Lux (bass guitar)
Gero "G" Oschmann (drums)
Class of 2020 addition: Pi Stoffers (guitar)

The band's lineup changes have kept them fresh and innovative, with each new member contributing to the evolving sound that has defined their discography. Harms’ collaboration with these musicians, as well as his cinematic, often unsettling live performances, has helped the band maintain a strong visual and musical identity.

Discography and Notable Albums

"Lord of the Lost" (2009) The self-titled debut album introduced the band's unique blend of gothic and metal. The songs on this album showcased their heavy, atmospheric style, with standout tracks like "The 13th" and "Dry the Rain," establishing their reputation within the underground gothic and metal scenes.

"Antagony" (2011) With their second album, Lord of the Lost began to experiment with more complex musical arrangements, incorporating greater symphonic elements and electronic textures. The album showcased a more refined and expansive sound, with tracks like "The Love of God" highlighting the band’s evolving musical maturity.

"From the Flame into the Fire" (2014) This album marked a shift towards a more polished and accessible sound, incorporating elements of mainstream gothic metal and industrial. The band became more adept at balancing their heavier, aggressive side with moments of atmospheric beauty, making it one of their most well-rounded releases.

"Empyrean" (2018) Arguably one of their most ambitious albums, Empyrean brought Lord of the Lost to a wider audience with its orchestral arrangements, soaring vocals, and cinematic instrumentation. The album blends progressive metal with a strong focus on melody, exploring themes of divine intervention, destruction, and rebirth. Tracks like "Black Halo" and "In the Field of Blood" showcase the band’s depth and ambition.

"Judas" (2020) In their most recent album, Judas, Lord of the Lost further pushes their gothic and metal influences into new, experimental territory. The album delves deep into themes of betrayal, redemption, and the darker aspects of human nature. The lush, symphonic atmosphere and industrial elements provide a haunting backdrop to the band's visceral lyrical content.

"Blood for Blood" (2024) With Blood for Blood, Lord of the Lost returned with a more aggressive, yet emotionally resonant offering. The album showcases an even more refined and polished production, while retaining the dark, atmospheric nature of the band's earlier work. The title track and others demonstrate a heightened sense of urgency and intensity.

Live Performances and Visual Aesthetics

One of the defining aspects of Lord of the Lost's appeal is their commitment to delivering high-energy, theatrical live performances. The band frequently incorporates dramatic lighting, elaborate stage setups, and gothic imagery, creating an immersive experience for their audience. Their concerts are as much about the spectacle as they are about the music, with Christopher Harms often engaging in dramatic, emotionally charged interactions with the crowd.

Visually, the band embraces a gothic aesthetic that complements their musical style. Dark clothing, heavy makeup, and intricate stage setups evoke the atmosphere of a gothic horror film, creating a unique fusion of music and visual storytelling. Their music videos are often cinematic and dark, adding to the band's aura of mystery and intensity.

Fan Base and Legacy

Lord of the Lost has garnered a dedicated following, especially within the European goth and metal scenes. Their fan base spans across multiple subcultures, from fans of gothic rock to metalheads and those with a particular love for darker, more atmospheric forms of music. Their ability to blend melodic beauty with crushing heaviness allows them to attract a broad spectrum of listeners, and their ever-evolving sound ensures they remain relevant in the ever-changing landscape of metal.

With their innovative approach to gothic metal, Lord of the Lost continues to make a significant impact on the genre, pushing boundaries and defying expectations. They are a band that embraces both the darkness and the light in their music, creating an emotional, sonic experience that resonates deeply with their fans.

Lord of the Lost stands as one of the most exciting and compelling forces in the world of gothic and metal music. With each release, they continue to evolve and defy categorization, offering their listeners an exploration of the complex and haunting dimensions of human emotion and experience. Their music is a reflection of both the personal and the universal, and it will undoubtedly continue to resonate for years to come.
